FENCE/WAILING WALL
Self-portrait collages were created in a series of Southern California prison art workshops I led in the late 80's and early 90's with both women and men. The inmates donated one of their self-portraits for display in my installations and viewers were able to write their responses and messages to the inmates in a notebook. These notebooks were displayed on a layer of dried rose petals, and I then copied them to share with the participating prison artists.
