Illusions of Freedom explores ideas of freedom and entrapment. The art studio where I teach at San Quentin looks out at the sky and many birds, along with guard towers and cellblock buildings. Feathers sometimes fall through the air or drift into the studio. Art provides a type of freedom for the mind and spirit.
Window Meditations were a series of poured and carved plaster, paint, beeswax and tar that explored meditative forms.
